The horseshoe shape provides a model from which the complex relationships can be visualized linking most of the Chinese and the United States currently productive supply chain partners. Applied metaphorically, the shoe also shows how a significant global trend, in many Chinese-American supply will rise, and why this trend could impose serious threats to U.S. economic interests for years to come. As the trend exists independently of nearly all domestic companies the potential answers can rarely an associated domestic threat within a specified United States / Chinese supply chain are removed. Most U.S. companies have a critical skill that might reduce the power of the emerging Chinese threat: the ability to manage and execute key supply chain functions more creative. As the Horseshoe shows, many domestic enterprises may soon be forced to be more creative. To address this need, a supply chain creativity matrix model is developed in this article. The model shows how domestic supply chain, companies can identify and encourage superior ideas under their command and subordinate echelons therefore the expansion of the company creative efficiency in the strategic implementation of key supply chain functions. These firms should be better able to defend against emerging Chinese these threats.
