Describes ongoing systemic reform efforts in the Chicago Public Schools. Introduces the concept of “differentiation and integration,” a management approach emerging in public school systems that couples “differential” treatment and support for individual schools with efforts to “integrate” the work of all schools and the district central office to a coherent strategy to improve . Participants have the opportunity to circumstances in the 617 school district that drive CPS to manage leadership through differentiation and integration to diagnose and improve student academic performance scale. The discussion will allow participants to review the district’s actions to date; analyze key roles, structures and functions to facilitate effective differentiation and integration, and to identify major challenges to implement the strategy
