Ocean Spray Cranberries, one of the country’s most successful agricultural cooperatives, in some difficult environmental management problems associated with water consumption and wetlands development. Because of the federal and state level laws wetlands, bogs new had to develop virtually impossible for expansion. Moreover, in order to protect its valuable brand, Ocean Spray has to reasonably sure that its 800 growers to use the best possible owner ecological practices in water management and the use of chemicals in agriculture. A single incident could the company significant harm. The case describes some of the most innovative programs carried out in order to facilitate best practices among the loose-knit group of producers.
