In this context, the District has seriously examined privatization sale of the airport to a private developer with a background in airport management. This case is designed to allow a full discussion of the possible advantages and disadvantages of privatization of such a large public institution. It raises issues such as monopoly power and ease of access to capital. The decision, which will allow Albany privatization ultimately made by the Federal Aviation Administration, so that the case raised by the national and local issues. HKS case number 1024.1
