The department was a world leader in the marketing of high-strength, relatively exotic aluminum alloys. Recently one of his talented metallurgists had developed a new formulation for an alloy in the 7000 series of high-strength hard alloys. The formulation was much cheaper than the previous, but had absolutely no effect on the performance and appearance. For all practical purposes, identical to the existing expensive alloys would be replaced. Andrew McAndrews, product manager for high-strength aluminum alloys, was responsible for the setting of a price for the new alloy.
