A summer intern in the Supplier Development department at XS Inc. is part of a two-day Value Stream Mapping (VSM) event SysInteg. This is his first chance to continue the cooperation with a major supplier have knowledge of Lean principles and tools in practice. Since this led an initiative to improve from a third party for the first time XS sponsorship, it was under strict control by the XS corporate-level executives. XS saw this as an opportunity to external Lean supply experts since some members of management were skeptical about the lack of oversight of milestones, performance management, or (supplier) allocation of resources, but the student is concerned that poor performance would affect at SysInteg its opportunities for future employment in XS. After today’s event in SysInteg, is expected to establish a communication plan and to identify participants for any future VSM event.
