The “big three” performance variables – real GDP growth, inflation and unemployment – are important starting points for dipping into the macroeconomies a country. This note provides some brief background information about the politics surrounding environmental performance reporting in the U.S. and the euro zone, exhibits show the historical performance on each of the three major variables for both. The students will be asked to key events in the global economy on a path of three variables from the year 1999 refer to mid-2009. Differences in performance in individual countries / regions over time and the differences between the regions are asked questions in the assignment.
